Once Shastri Swami reached Haridwar alongwith the companion saints. Swamiji found it very difficult to get an accommodation in Haridwar suitable for observing the limitations prescribed for the saints by the Sampradaya. The Swami took not a second to understand and realize the difficulties which many saints and the devotees must be facing while visiting Haridwar. Therefore he determined to build a place for Shree Swaminarayan on the bank of the holy river Ganga. In a very short time, a trust was registered and a piece of land was acquired for the purpose of constructing Shree Swaminarayan Ashram thereon. However, it is not easy to have an institute in an unknown area. A number of obstacles from the local people. But these saints did not lose courage and tolerated everything with a smiling face and marched ahead firmly in their mission.

First of all one Dharmshala was constructed and obtained the pleasure of the Gujarati devotees of Shree Swaminarayan Sampradaya. Every visitor of the place felt homely atmosphere. Due to heavy rush of the pilgrims, this Dharmashala was being felt very small and, therefore, many devotees of abroad let loose the flow of donation liberally due to expertise and hard work of the Swami. Due to the Swami’s ways of making the devotees feel the sense of belongingness with the institute, a number of devotees from U.S. and U.K. insisted Swami to visit the countries and overflowed the requirements with pounds and dollars. What else is required? The hard labour of the Swami had already the blessings of the Lord.

The construction work of the Ashram in Haridwar started full-fledged.  A huge of land was purchased on Rishikesh and a new temple of the Lord Swaminarayan was constructed thereon. A great celebration of invocation ceremony was performed and enjoyed by the devotees. A huge Yatrik-Bhavan with 100 A.C. and Non-A.C. rooms was got constructed in the premises of the temple.

A huge Gaushala was constructed to serve the cows. Shree Swaminarayan Ghat was made ready at the place on the bank of the river Ganga where Shree Nilkanth Varni (Lord Swaminarayan) had once been.

A Sadavrat is being run on daily basis for the saints and the devotees in the Ashram. Various festivals are being celebrated with great fun and enthusiasm. Rishi Batuks are taught Sanskrit, Karma-Kand, English and Computer free of cost.

Due to expertise and experience of the Swami, today he has become very popular and favourite among the devotees. Even the Mahamandaleshwars of the place honour and respect the Swami considering him as their own inmate. Swami aims to construct Dharmshala in other welknown places of pilgrimage of the country like Setubandh Rameshwar and Jaganath Puri and by serving the devotees he intends to spread the message of the Lord Swaminarayan.
