Porbandar is a birth place of the two great personality of Indian history. One is Sudama- the fast friend and companion of the Lord Shree Krishna and the other is the Father of Nation- Mahatma Gandhi who compelled the Britishers to leave India permanently and to help India get freedom from a foreign rule.

Shree Dindayal Gurudwar Hostel Institute which was established by Lohana Saint Shree Maheshwaranandji Maharaj and situated in Chhaya- a very well-known area of Porbandar, could not run properly and ultimately it was closed. Therefore the trustees of the Hostel handed over the administration of the trust along with the assets and immovable properties of the institute to Shastri Swami Hariprakashdasji and Shastri Swami Shree Harikrishnadasji- the Managing Trustees of ‘Shree Satsang Shiksha Parishad-Gandhinagar’ in the year 1977. Sharda Vidyalaya having just 250 students  was renamed as ‘Shree Swaminarayan Highschool’.

Under new administration, the strength of the students rose to 500 students and in a huge building of the school which could be built with the donations from the devotees from abroad, 3500 students are taking education from Balmandir to P.T.C. College.

Considering the request of the local people, the institute has also started branches of primary and secondary schools in Ranavav. About 200 students are studying in Montessori Methods in Balmandir at Ranavav. The Primary school of Ranavav is also having the strength of 500 students.

Whether we welcome or not, the 21st century has arrived at last. Time runs incessantly without waiting for anybody. The next century is the century of computer and technologies like space and bio-engineering. In order to survive in today’s competitions of liberalization and globalization, it is essential to progress at the pace of the progress of the modern world. This kind of progress is achieved through education. Something which brings out inner powers lying in a man is Education. Development of inner powers means understanding human mind and emotions. This understanding means Samskar. Education or science which is obtained without understanding this turns out to be an evil force and by whirling into a selfish circle it brings destruction-Be it Duryodhana of the time of Mahabharat or Osama Bin Laden of the present time.

Education is not everything in human life.  Though the place of education in life is very special  yet Samskara is supreme. Keeping this thing in mind, this institution imparts along with life sustaining education, Samskaras of value based education through Satsang Chhatralaya of residential Gurukul Tradition. Just a huge banyan tree is hidden in its seed, a great scientist and a patriotic citizen is hidden in a child. But this seed can develop to its full only when a congenial climate and the facilities like water, nutritious elements are supplied to it and a wall of protection is provided to it.

With the help and donation from small and big devotees of London, America, Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu,  Eldorate, Kitale (Kenya), Dare Salem, Moshi and Arusha (Tanzania), Andola (Zambia) and other known and unknown devotees residing in abroad, blessings of Sadguru Swami Shree Bhaktinandasji and guidance and hard work of Shastri Swami Hariprakasdasji, Shastri Swami Bhanuprakasdasji, Swami Dharmnataydasji, Swami Shree Prakashdasji and Shree Ketanbhai B. Patel, this institution has been marching ahead in the direction of progress and development.
