In order to actualize the principle ‘Nothing is greater than imparting knowledge and Gyan”, an educational institute was established at a small place of Damnagar of Lathi Taluka of Amreli district. Within a short span of one decade a great and mighty educational complex under the supervision of Shree Sahjanand Education Trust was erected named ‘Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Damnagar’. The history of the Gurukul is also very interesting.

The ever first credit for this educational institute goes to the farmers Shree Labhubhai Ranchhodbhai Narola and Mohanbhai Ranchhodbhai Narola. These two brothers started selfless service by offering the land admeasuring 2 acre from the land which they had been cultivating for their livelihood. It was a golden piece of land which they offered in service of Satsang, Samskar and Education. On having the land Sadguru Vaikunthpriyadasji and H.Vishnucharandasji toiled days and night and despite of a number of hurdles and difficulties, started the educational institute. Today a note of this institute is being taken in every corner of Saurashtra region.

A primary school and secondary school is also run at Jasdan by this institute. In the vast campus of five acre there are Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary schools, modern hostel, dinning hall, Bhojanshala, well decorated garden, playground, Gaushala, computer centre, religious store, Guest House. The huge Prarthna Hall adds beauty to the campus. In this campus the construction work of a huge building for college is about to be completed.

Over and above education, this institution runs for social service in the times of natural calamities. At the time of earthquake, a relief camp was  opened up in Madhapur under direct supervision of the saints. This institute does not limit itself with the activities of the trust only. The institute has started a modern Bal-Mandir and primary school with 11 rooms under the guidance of Madhav Jankalyan Trust at Mota Bhamodara (Tal.Savarkundla) the birthplace of the donor of the institute Shree Madhavbhai Savani (at present in America). Similarly Shree Madhubhai Umdadan has also constructed Bal-Mandir and Primary school in his village Hirana (Lathi) and he has been looking after the same. Due to the earthquake in 2001 the primary school of Damnagar was severely damaged rendering it to be of non-use, under the guidance and inspiration from the saints  Shree Damnagar Sewa Sahkari Mandli undertook the construction of primary school of 20 rooms and as a result ‘Savani Primary School’ came to be started.

The saints of the institute like H. Chandraprasad Swami, H.Vishwajivanswami, H.Vishnucharan Swami, H.Viveksagar Swami have over and above the educational activities, also undertook various welfare activities like conservation of water by constructing Check-Dams, All Diseases Cure Camp, Dental-Camp, Eye-Camp and Diagnosis Camp, Group Holy-Thread Samskar Programme, Dispelling Blind Faith Shibir, Career Guidance and Counseling Seminar, Cultural Programmes, Judo-Karate Training Camp, various competitions of games and sports, Addiction free Camp, Permanent Ambulance Service, Relief works during Draught, Mobile Water Service, Grass-service for Cattle, Buttermilk distribution service during Summer and distribution of clothes and grains to the working class.

With the support from the source of inspiration from the donors of the institute like Shree Bhimjibhai D. Patel (Surat), Shree Dhirubhai Ajmera and Mahendrabhai Parekh (Mumbai), Shree Govindbhai Dholakia and Shree Savjiobhai Dholakiya (Surat), Shree Madhavbhai Savani family (America), Shree Sanjaybhai Acharya and Shree Rameshbhai Bhanderi (London), Shree Harishbhai Patel (Leicester) and ladies and gents of Bolton Kachchh Leva Patel Samaj, Shree Jagdishbhai Patel, Durlabhjibhai Ukani and all  other devotees living in U.S. and U.K. this institute has been progressing day by day.
