Various educational, religious and social activities are being run by Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Visavadar situated in Visavadar at a distance of about 8 k.m. from Sattadhar -the famous local place of pilgrimage at the foothill of the mountain Girnar of Saurashtra region.

Sadguru Purani Swami Bhagvatjivandasji, the disciple of Sadguru Shastri Swami Dharmjivandasji served his Guru for many years like his shadow and obtained the pleasure of the devotees. With a view to expand the educational activities, educational services were started in Visavadar on the auspicious day of Vijayadashmi in Samvat 2037. Ceremony for laying stone of foundation of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul was inaugurated by Shree Shamjibapu, the devout devotee of Mahant of Sattadhar.

Within short span of two years, grand building consisting of hostel and Vidyalaya was constructed with active co-operation of the dononrs.          Educational activities started from the year 1988 and the building of primary school and hostel  were filled with the  sweet voice of the innocent kids and children. Alongwith motherly love and affection of Shree Purani Swami, children started getting education of culture and life-building. Considering the future demands of society and time, the institute started a secondary school in the year 1992. Today there is facility of education from Std.1 to 10 in the institute. There are facilities of huge hostel having the capacities of 250 students with a playground, library, science hall, computer lab, Prayer Hall, Bhojanalaya and accommodation facilities for outsider visitors in the campus of the institute. The institute also runs a Gau-shala with a noble intention to serve the Mother Cow and to provide milk, curd, buttermilk and ghee to the students of the hostel.

Various activities like Satsang Sabha, campaign for freedom from addiction, Propaganda of Satsang, construction of new Hari-temples and renovation of  the existing ones, publication of literature of the Sampradaya are being undertaken by the institute.

This institute, which is flowering in the field of education, has also opened its branch at Mendarada wherein a high school from standard 8 to 10 and higher secondary school is being run. Various cultural activities, drawing, sports and games competitions, trip and tours are also arranged by the institute.

Swami Santvallabhdasji  of Shree Swaminarayan temple, Gondal has been rendering his services for many years. This great saint has been running Dev-Seva, Gurukul in Gondal and a huge Gau-shala on Gondal road. He is an ardent servant of Purani Swami.

Though Purani Swami is now very old, he has been very active in the development of the institute. under the direct guidance of Purani Swami. his disciples, Swami Krishnaprasaddasji, Shastri Swami Anandprasaddasji, Swami Sarjudasji, Jagdish Bhagat etc. are running various activities of social service of the institute

Among the devotees Sheth Shree Kirtikumar Gordhandas Shah, Mumbai, Sheth Shree Ratibhai Haribhai Savaliya, Visavadar, Sheth Shree Vitthaldas Valjibhai Radadia, Bagsara and the principal and teachers of the institute are ever ready to develop the institute.

Considering the future demands of the time, the institute also aims at starting vocational courses and courses of graduate level.
